new album “Songs of the Recollection”
We are excited to announce a new album, “Songs of the Recollection” which you can pre-order from our web store today and which will be available everywhere on March 25th. It’s a collection of cover songs, some of which have been available on previous tribute albums, some that we dug out of our archive and some that we recorded specifically for this album, but all of which connects us to our past and helps to define our present. Long before we were musicians, we were music fans. We didn’t grow up sitting around the kitchen table playing instruments and harmonizing. We grew up sitting around the record player listening to each other’s record collections and having our minds blown by what we were listening to. This was the passion and experience that we shared. These are some of the songs and some of the artists that have found their way into our lives and eventually into our repertoire over the past fifty years. Enjoy!

Music Is The Drug podcast
We have launched a Cowboy Junkies podcast called Music Is The Drug, hosted by Dave Bowler who wrote the Cowboy Junkies biography. Each episode of the podcast will focus on one song from our catalogue which Mike and Al will discuss in depth, with lots of prodding from Dave. February tour dates postponed
Unfortunately, due to the spiking Covid numbers in Canada and the US we are going to have to postpone our February shows in Northampton, Portsmouth, Ridgefield and Lexington. The good news is that we have been able to re-scheduled them for late April. Please hold on to your tickets as they will be honoured at the April shows. If you cannot make the new date, please contact the venue box office. You can go to the Tour page on our website to find all the relevant info on the new dates. Be safe. We’ll see you soon.
October 2021 Tour dates
Tomorrow we are heading out on the road for the first time in 18 months for a short spin around the Great Lakes. We are nervous and excited and hope that those of you in the area can drop in and say hello. Joining us on-stage will be John Farnsworth and Jeff Bird. Here we go!

Latent Lounge performance film October 6 at 8pm
On Wednesday night at 8pm (EST) we will be debuting a performance film that a few of us got together to make over the last couple of months. It features mainly acoustic performance by three Latent artists including; six new songs by Margo and Michael Timmins; five new songs by Jerry Leger off of his upcoming Nothing Pressing album; and a handful of songs by Andy Maize (Skydiggers) and Michael Timmins from their Townies project. If you aren’t available on Wednesday night, the film will be available for 48 hours after the debut so you can watch it at any time (and as many times) in that window.
Tickets are cheap, only $10, but we encourage you to pay a little more and we will donate that extra to The Legacy Of Hope Foundation.

New Music from Mike T
The numbers and number-makers tell us that releasing three minute and thirty second pop singles is the way to go, but we figure that everyone has a lot of time on their hands these days so here is a sixty-two minute journey for you. My friend, Andy Maize (Skydiggers) and I have been collaborating through these past many months. And this what we came up with: a bunch of music about childhood, and memory, and pandemics and guilt and responsibility. An album born of bad hockey, Covid, Black Lives Matter and age. So put on some headphones, take your streaming software off of shuffle, and kick two thousand fukcing twenty out the door. Enjoy!

AUS and NZ tour dates rescheduled
Our tour to Australia and New Zealand has once again been postponed and has been rescheduled to early 2022. We know that this is frustrating (believe me we know), but we will get there. If you already have tickets, and if you can afford to, please hold on to them, they will be honoured for the new dates. One of the big challenges for independent bands like ourselves is to do everything we can to keep the independent concert promoters and venues alive while this freakin’ pandemic rages. We are all part of the same ecosystem and if they go down then it will be so much harder for bands like us to keep on touring. Holding on to already purchased tickets will go a long way in keeping them afloat. We can’t wait to get there and for the celebration to begin. It seems like a long way away, but will see you soon! Music Is The Drug (the authorised biography)
The first authorised biography of the band (Music Is The Drug) is going to be published in early 2021, but we have copies for sale now in our webstore. Also, while supplies last, if you order the book now we will include the Music Is the Drug CD which is made up of live recordings from 2012, 2017, and 2018. This CD is currently only available with purchase of the book.
The book, written by Dave Bowler, has been in the works for 15 years. During that time Dave has spent time with us on the road and in the studio, all the while recording hours of conversation with the four of us; as well as with long time crew members; family members; music biz collaborators; other musicians; audience members and anyone else who could give him a perspective on the bands music. Music Is The Drug is a deep dive into all our albums stretching from, Whites Off Earth Now!! to All That Reckoning, from the perspective of song writing, recording, artwork, life on the road, and surviving for 35 years in the music biz. And there are also lots of behind the scenes pictures!

rescheduling of tour dates
We hope everyone is doing well and keeping safe in these strange times. We just want to let you know that we are still in the process of rescheduling any of our 2020 tour dates that have yet to be rescheduled (including this month’s Colorado shows). We will definitely not being doing any shows in 2020 but our hope is that we can start up again in early 2021. If you have bought tickets for any 2020 shows please hold on to them as they will be honoured at a rescheduled show in 2021. As these shows become rescheduled we will update our Tour Dates page (found here) with the new info.
In the meantime, this downtime, has given us the opportunity to go through our archive and we are planning to make a lot of unheard (or long lost) music available. We are also about to release Open on vinyl (more info to come in the next few weeks) and we still plan to release Ghosts on vinyl in the coming months (in the meantime you can stream it on all streaming services or purchase a hi-res download of it here.)
There are a couple of other very interesting projects that are in the works that we will let you know about when they are a little closer to seeing the light of day.
