Kent, Ohio (Oct 26, 2006)

Back to Tour Diary main page

We've never played in this town before. It seems that Ohio has an endless supply of small towns (I guess this whole country does when you get right down to it). The infamous Kent State University sits somewhere on the outskirts of this town, but we didn't see any of it. The town itself is typical of these "college" towns that haven't quite integrated the college with the town: it's still alive, but barely. There are some beautiful old buildings and there is a valiant attempt being made at saving the Cuyahoga River which runs through it. This town was also a strong link in the chain of communities that made up the Underground Railroad in the late 19th century (one of this areas most noble undertakings) and, for a time, it was the home of the famous abolitionist John Brown.

The gig tonight was excellent. We had an amazing audience and we responded with one of our better shows.
