On the road again…a little jaunt through various states of emergency.
We have basically been off of the road for the past four months but it has been a busy few months back at home. We are just about finished our new album and we have various other projects on the go including; a re-release of Whites Off Earth Now!! which will be coming out on re-mastered high density vinyl and on a SACD which will include a 5.1 mix of the album; we have an art book celebrating the bands first twenty years (XX), which will be available in the Junk Store next few weeks; at the beginning of November we will be recording and taping a 20th Anniversary celebration of The Trinity Session; and we have our cross-Canada train trip coming up in a few weeks. So this little jaunt is kind of like a vacation for us.
Along for this ride is an entirely new crew (all of our old standbys are out on long term tours). Terry is doing sound, Kaz is running the stage and Dave (who was out for a few shows with us a few years ago) is on monitors. Andy Maize and Josh Finlayson are opening up all of these shows.
We have a pretty large repertoire of songs for this tour. We are still playing songs from our current album Early 21st Century Blues; we have all of Trinity Session in the repertoire since we will be performing it for the upcoming DVD; we have many of the requests that we have received for the upcoming train trip; songs from the new album; and a healthy selection of odds-and-ends from the repertoire. We will try and play them all over the upcoming ten shows.
Rochester is a city that we have only played two or three times over the years despite its proximity to Toronto. So we really didn’t know what to expect from the venue or the audience. As it turned out it was a very good venue, great promoter and local crew and an excellent audience: very enjoyable way to start the tour.
After the show we watched the Cardinals eliminate the Mets...bring on the Series…go Tigers.
