A very long 16 hour drive from Tempe: back through New Mexico and through Townes’ Raton Pass. So much for the day off…itineraries can be so deceiving.
“Boulder looks like the type of town that I could spend some time”…..and it still does after all these years. It’s a lot wealthier than it was back when those words were written and the urban sprawl has basically connected it to Denver and made it a de facto suburb, but there is still something special about this place. It still maintains a certain funk between the Urban Outfitters and Hagen Daz outlets. They seemed to have used the influx of money over the past fifteen years to make this a better place to live. So there are lots of bike paths and plenty of space for pedestrian traffic, a lot of parks and clean, well kept public areas and the university section, which is where the Fox Theater is located, is still very much a university section. The geography of the place is also spectacular: nestled among the Rocky Mountain foothills. It’s the type of town where one can walk down to your local strip-mall, throw a load of clothes in at the laundry mat, walk one door down for an excellent espresso, another door down for a fresh lox and bagel and then sit outside with a freshly squeezed juice and watch the beautiful people come and go….which is exactly how I spent my morning.
We had a very fun night at the Fox. Once again, we had an excellent, enthusiastic audience. We were a little sloppy at times (especially me) but we played with a lot of enthusiasm and as a unit and the audience responded…what more can one ask for…
