After one short ride you can usually assess both bus and driver….so far, so good. The bus is comfortable and Emory, our driver, seems to understand that he is hauling people not cargo…a very smooth ride.

Aside from the band that we had in Halifax (me, Margo, Alan, Jeff Bird and Randal Coryell) we also have a three man crew out with us. Mike Sponarski has rejoined us after a two year absence during which he was out with Nora Jones. Craig Chapman and Ryan Seekings, who were out with us this past summer, have also rejoined us. It is a nice little outfit and, so far, it is working well together.

Today started on not such a good note. Canada lost 2 – 0 to Switzerland: a huge upset. The Swiss goalie was great and the Russian referee was pathetic, but, nevertheless, a team of NHL stars should not lose to a team from Switzerland. Later in the day Team USA lost to Slovakia. The gold medal is still very much up for grabs.

The gig tonight was at the Granada Theater, which is one of those theater/clubs that are scattered throughout the country, not a bad venue. If we were worried about not having enough energy to get through our fifth show in three nights, we shouldn’t have been. The Dallas audience, as usual, was boisterous and excited and they gave us the jolt of energy that we so much needed. We were also joined by Greg and Ron of the band Milton Mapes, who will be opening the rest of the shows on this run. It was a very fun night
