We’ve had about two months off the road, which is just enough time to get settled back home but not enough to truly miss the excitement of doing a gig. So, preparing to leave was a little difficult: a lot of denial and small amounts of dread. This little four show jaunt to the UK is in support of our, soon to be released DVD, Trinity Revisited. We will be performing all of the songs off of The Trinity Session, in the order in which they appear on that album. The tour culminates in a show at the very prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London, where Ryan Adams will be joining us. So we were a little bit apprehensive about how these shows would “feel”: whether this would feel like a promotional tour or like true gigs. Edinburgh is a wonderful city and Scotland feels a whole lot like Canada. It must be that small-country-living-beside-a-large-imperialist-country vibe, but in truth Scotland has a whole lot more to bitch about with their shared history with England, than we Canadians do with our shared history with the US. Then again, Scotland and England have had several hundred more years to let the animosity grow. In any case, we always love coming here. Our apprehension was short lived. The venue was a beautiful sounding old church and the audience was there to be wooed. It was a lot of fun focusing solely on those songs and really zeroing in on making sure that they drifted and floated. We had an excellent gig….Apprehension gone. Time to have fun. |
