Londonderry, NH & Charlottesville, VA (Oct 21 & 23, 2007)

This was a nice day to follow up the intensity of an NYC visit. The venue was a very cool little listening room located in an extension built on to an old house, which was probably, at one time located in the middle of nowhere on a rural road, but is now quickly, being absorbed by strip malls and highways. Nonetheless, it was a beautiful day and there are still enough woodlots around to show off the fall colours. Just being able to sit in the parking lot, sucking up some sun and air made it a special day.

To top off a very nice day, we had a very nice night. We were relaxed and in need of redemption from the night before. A good little room and a very engaged audience allowed us to have a very fun night.

After the show we were able to watch the Red Sox slowly dismantle the Indians. I’m not sure that I want to see the Sox win the World Series (its hard for me to root for The Sox or the Yankees since my Jays have to share the same division with them), but it should make for a good Series.

A day off in Charlottesville….not a bad town to stop for a day. Twenty years ago this place was a very unique, little oasis in the middle of Virginia. Home to the highly prestigious University of Virginia, many alumni have stuck around over the years and helped the town to develop a certain relaxed sophistication. Unfortunately the press caught up with the town and the resulting publicity has made the area an extremely popular re-location destination for the up and coming. The result is a population boom over the last decade and the resultant strip malls, housing developments and traffic. But it’s still a pretty cool little town. We spent the past two days on the downtown pedestrian mall (both the hotel and the venue were on the mall), which is on the rise and filled with locally owned businesses. A refreshing change.

The gig tonight was in a beautifully refurbished theater. We were hoping for a couple of hundred more people, but those that did attend were very enthusiastic. We had a very fun evening.
