Bearsville NY (June 9, 2007)
Back to Tour Diary main page

The Bearsville Theater was built by Albert Grossman, one of the great music-biz mavericks: genius, crook, entrepreneur, thief, builder, destroyer, patron, asshole it all depended on what side of the table you sat, just ask Bob Dylan.

It’s a cool little venue just outside of Woodstock, NY: a very tranquil setting to spend a day lounging about waiting for show-time, lots of large oaks, maples and pines and a river running out back of the theater.

Load in was delayed because there was an auction in support of the local Democratic Party going on inside the theater. I bid on and won a signed Elliot Landy print of Bob Dylan, the photo used on the cover of Nashville Skyline. A very nice way to kick off the day. Things got even better when we got a call from Garth Hudson, who will be playing with us next month in Montreal. Garth asked if he could sit-in and get familiar with some of the material, which for us, is a great honour. He made it for soundcheck, missed the first set and returned just in time to help out on Blue Moon and Misguided Angel. It was a lot of fun. We hope to expand his repertoire for Montreal and hopefully include Powderfinger and Blue Guitar (which will be right up Garth’s alley).

To top off an excellent day we had an excellent gig….we hope to mark Bearsville as a regular tour stop.
